US sanctions RSF commanders over Sudan genocide
The United States has sanctioned three Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leaders for genocide in Sudan: Elfateh Abdullah Idris Adam, Gedo Hamdan Ahmed Mohamed, and Tijani Ibrahim Moussa Mohamed. All hold ranks of Brigadier General and Field Commander. Elfateh, who filmed atrocities including civilian executions in El Fasher, was designated under Section 7031(c) for human rights violations. The RSF has committed genocide since April 2023, targeting civilians based on ethnicity during the El Fasher siege in October 2025. They blocked humanitarian aid, causing famine and disease. The US seeks peace and an end to the humanitarian crisis, urging belligerents to accept a truce. The UK and EU have also sanctioned RSF leaders.
