Vietnam’s Ministry of Health clarified on June 30, 2026 that international travellers will not need to fill out a health declaration when entering, leaving, or transiting through the country starting July 1, 2026. The health declaration framework under Decree No. 165/2026/NĐ-CP remains a legal tool that can be activated only during public health emergencies or disease outbreaks, not a routine requirement.

For Nigerian travelers heading to Vietnam for tourism, business, or transit, this means no extra health form unless the government announces an outbreak activation. However, the digital arrival card—known as the Pre-Arrival Information system—remains mandatory at designated entry points. Travelers must still submit personal, travel, and visa details online before reaching immigration checkpoints where the system applies.

Authorities warned against using unofficial websites like tokhaiyte.vn for health declarations, confirming it is not used for international arrivals, departures, or transit. An official platform for health declarations is still under development and will launch only if the requirement is triggered by a future health threat.

For now, Nigerians should ensure they have a valid passport, visa or e-visa where required, and complete the digital arrival card if applicable. They should also monitor official Vietnamese health advisories for any changes.

If a disease outbreak triggers the health declaration, travelers could complete it online or on paper within seven days before arrival, departure, or transit, with additional requirements possible depending on the disease and border points.

Will this clarification ease your travel plans to Vietnam, or will you still prefer to carry extra health documentation just in case?
