VP Shettima begins two-week leave for study and reflection, first since 2023 inauguration

Vice President Kashim Shettima has commenced a two-week leave approved by President Bola Tinubu, marking his first official leave since assuming office on May 29, 2023. The leave was announced Thursday in Abuja by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha.

Nkwocha stated the leave allows Shettima time for study and reflection to strengthen his capacity, review ongoing administration programmes, assess key policy priorities, and deepen understanding of emerging national and global policy issues. This prepares him for future responsibilities as the Federal Government implements the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Since May 2023, Shettima has coordinated strategic initiatives in economic development, food security, humanitarian affairs, digital transformation, job creation, and regional cooperation, including chairing National Economic Council meetings. He has also represented President Tinubu at international engagements on economic integration, peace and security, climate action, investment, and sustainable development.

The Vice President remains committed to loyalty, duty, and service, and will return to office at the end of the two-week period. Specific start date and whether any duties are temporarily delegated were not specified in the announcement.
