Werder Bremen head coach Daniel Thioune said Victor Boniface may be left out of the matchday squad for the Bundesliga clash against FC Augsburg, despite the Nigerian forward returning from a knee injury last week. Boniface joined Bremen on loan in the summer and has struggled with injuries, missing the team's 1-1 draw with VfB Stuttgart after his return. Thioune told Bild that Boniface's return was crucial and he performed well in training, but the arrival of Marco Friedl and Marco Grüll has intensified competition for attacking spots. "With the return of Marco Friedl and Marco Grüll, I will have to make decisions that may exclude one or two players," he said, adding that he also has other physically robust strikers like Salim Musah and Jovan Milosevic. The final selection will come after the last training session, with Thioune stressing that no player is guaranteed a place and everyone must earn their spot.

For Nigerian fans, Boniface's playing time at Bremen directly affects his readiness for the Super Eagles and his chances of securing a regular starting role ahead of upcoming qualifiers. His injury-plagued season already limited his national team involvement, and another spell on the bench could hinder his momentum.

Will you keep tracking his training performances for signs of an imminent recall, or shift focus to other Nigerian prospects pushing for Bremen minutes?
