WHO's Dr. Chikwe Ihekwuazu warns Nigeria and African countries that inadequate health services, poor infrastructure and low public trust make Ebola containment more challenging. Speaking on Arise Television Tuesday, the WHO official said countries with weak healthcare systems struggle to respond effectively to outbreaks because communities are less likely to cooperate if everyday healthcare needs are neglected. 'This is not about the DRC or Nigeria,' Ihekwuazu emphasized. 'This is about every country worldwide. To build trust, you have to be there for them all the time.' The solution involves strengthening health systems for all patients, not just emergency response, as WHO supports countries to rebuild trust and improve outbreak preparedness. Currently, NCDC has placed Kano, FCT, Lagos and seven other states on high Ebola alert as Nigeria moves to block Ebola entry.
