News Wike waives C-of-O fees for Nigerian Law School, orders urgent upgrades Published on April 23, 2026 By Nana Ismail googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1500386953281-8'); }); The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the removal of fees for the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for the Nigerian Law School campus in Bwari, Abuja. He also ordered urgent action on the construction of staff housing and other key facilities to improve learning conditions at the school. Wike made this known during a meeting with the school’s management in Abuja, where he expressed shock that the institution had been operating without proper land documentation since relocating to Bwari. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5'); }); According to him, “We are going to waive all the processing fees,” and he directed officials to ensure the C of O is completed within one week. He said formalising land ownership is necessary to correct what he described as an irregular situation. Beyond land issues, Wike also approved several infrastructure projects, including staff quarters, student hostels, and an auditorium. He revealed that 10 staff housing units have already been completed and will be commissioned during the president’s third-anniversary events. He also approved plans for another 10 units. To reduce overcrowding, he said work is ongoing on new male and female hostels. Wike also questioned delays on a new auditorium project despite the approval of funds and ordered closer monitoring of contractors. He further instructed the law school to work with FCTA legal officials to explore digital systems for administration. Wike said the projects are part of efforts to support legal education under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, adding, “Anything we can do to help our children, we are willing to do that.” Earlier, the director-general of the law school, Dr Olugbemisola Odusote, praised the FCT minister’s development efforts but highlighted infrastructure challenges facing the school.
