Wizkid, Asake release 'Jogodo' ahead of joint EP 'Real' on January 23
Wizkid and Asake have released their first official joint single, 'Jogodo', which dropped on streaming platforms in the early hours of Friday. The track serves as the lead single for their upcoming EP, 'Real (Vol 1)', scheduled for release on January 23, 2026. This marks their first collaborative extended play project.
The song blends Wizkid's smooth, understated vocals with Asake's energetic, street-inspired delivery. They sing in a mix of Yoruba and Pidgin, with lyrics centred on attraction, nightlife and confidence. Asake confirmed on Instagram that the EP will feature four tracks: 'Jogodo', 'Turbulence', 'Iskolodo' and 'Alaye'. Although this is their first joint EP, both artists have collaborated before on Wizkid's 'Bad Girl' (from his 2024 'Morayo' project) and Asake's 'MMS' (from his debut album 'Lungu Boy').
Interest in the collaboration grew in early December 2025 after both artists confirmed the project was in the works during an Apple Music Radio takeover interview. Wizkid announced at the time: "Special announcement: 2025, clear road. Mr Money and Big Wiz—our project is called Real, and it will be released this December for the people. Do you understand? One time, Vol. 1." The release follows Nigeria's strong showing at the 9th AFRIMA Awards, where the government congratulated Rema, Burna Boy and others. For fans, this collaboration represents a major moment in Afrobeats. Does this partnership signal more collaborations between industry giants, or is it a strategic move to dominate the streaming charts in 2026?
