WoPU backs Tinubu’s 2027 bid, urges unity on Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day
Working People United (WoPU), a coalition of labour leaders and professionals, congratulated Nigerians on the 66th Independence Anniversary and praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it lays the foundation for a better future. The group pledged to mobilize the working population behind Tinubu’s vision and actively support his reelection bid in 2027. In a statement signed by Coordinator‑General Comrade (Prince) Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, WoPU said Nigerians can look forward to a tomorrow better than yesterday and today, and urged unity in word and deed to build a stronger nation. WoPU highlighted the country’s abundant human and material resources, calling on stakeholders to end worker exploitation, prioritize human capital development and youth empowerment in line with international best practices. It also celebrated Nigerians’ achievements at home and in the diaspora across science, technology, medicine, sports and the arts, stressing that collective effort is key to unlocking national potential. The coalition concluded with a prayer for leaders and the nation, urging patriotism and responsibility to remain untarnished. As WoPU prepares to rally workers for Tinubu’s 2027 campaign, will their organized backing translate into measurable electoral gains, or will opponents dismiss it as partisan labor politics?
