Xiaomi launches Redmi Note 17 with huge 8,000mAh battery in India, China
Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 17 in China on July 14, 2026 and in India on August 6, 2026, with sales starting around August 12. The phone centers on an 8,000mAh battery for multi-day use, paired with a 7-inch AMOLED display at 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,800 nits brightness. It runs on an entry-level Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chip with 6GB or 8GB RAM, 128GB or 256GB storage, microSD support up to 2TB, and a 50MP main camera plus 8MP front shooter (no ultrawide). Software is Android 16 with HyperOS 3, promising four years of OS updates and six years of security patches. Other features include IP65 dust/water resistance, in‑display fingerprint, USB‑C port, and no headphone jack.
In China the base 6GB/128GB model starts at CNY 1,299 ($180); in India it is ₹27,999 ($335) for the same configuration, with bank discounts of up to ₹3,000 via select credit cards or ₹1,500 via UPI. A European price of around €250 has leaked but remains unconfirmed. African markets have no official price yet; listings in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa or Ghana may show incorrect specs, so buyers should verify the 8,000mAh battery and Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chip before trusting any offer.
If you’re in Nigeria or other African countries and considering a purchase, confirm the exact specifications, note there is currently no official Xiaomi sales channel for this model, and decide whether to wait for an authorized launch or proceed with imported units after verifying the core specs.
