News Zamfara Chief of Staff survives gunmen attack Published on April 3, 2026 By Hafsat Bello The Chief of Staff to the Zamfara State Government House, Moukhtar Lugga, narrowly escaped death on Thursday evening after gunmen opened fire on his vehicle along the Funtua–Gusau road. The attack reportedly occurred at about 6:16 pm near Kucheri, when armed assailants ambushed Lugga’s vehicle and fired shots from multiple directions. A local radio station in Zamfara State reported that the attackers surrounded the vehicle and opened fire in what appeared to be a coordinated assault. However, neither Lugga nor his driver was hit by the bullets. Sources said the driver was able to steer the vehicle away from the scene, escaping the ambush unhurt. A bullet hole was later seen on the front windscreen of the vehicle. Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident as of the time of filing this report.
