Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has confirmed his opposition to the Rainbow Coalition led by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, stating Wike must choose one political side ahead of the 2027 elections. Lawal made this clear in an interview with Channels Television on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, as reported by DAILY POST earlier today.

Lawal argued that supporting the APC while backing other parties is unacceptable and illogical, declaring: "You can’t be supporting the APC here and still be supporting some other political parties somewhere else. It doesn’t make sense. It’s not done anywhere." He emphasized he remains aligned with the Progressive Governors Forum’s stance against the coalition’s activities.

The governor said the issue will be brought to President Bola Tinubu’s attention upon his return from a working vacation in France. This comes after APC-elected governors distanced themselves from Wike’s coalition, citing risks to party ambitions, with Wike countering by accusing them of political laziness.

With 2027 positioning intensifying, will this public push for APC unity strengthen the party’s internal cohesion or deepen fractures as opposition groups like the Rainbow Coalition seek to exploit perceived divisions?
